The jackal shadow lunged. Elias didn't think; he dove toward the door. As his hand hit the hallway light switch, the entire world glitched. For a split second, he saw the wireframes of his own house—the blue polygons of the floor, the empty void beneath the stairs.
The door to his closet was slightly ajar. On the monitor, the digital version of his closet was wide open, revealing a swirling, glitching vortex of red cubes—the Infinite's Ruby effect.
