Their success catapults them into the high-stakes world of Wall Street, turning Wells into a billionaire overnight. However, the triumph is short-lived as allegations of fraud surface, suggesting the gold results were faked, leading to a massive financial collapse and FBI investigations.

Critics generally praised Matthew McConaughey's performance but found the storytelling somewhat conventional. Reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes gave it mixed scores, noting that while the central relationship was strong, the plot's emotional impact was sometimes buried by its "rags to riches" clichés.
