Despite its brief 25-minute runtime, it manages to deliver a high-octane, emotionally resonant origin story that perfectly encapsulates the thematic differences and commonalities between three of DC’s most powerful figures: Superman, Billy Batson (Shazam), and Black Adam. At its core, the film is about the "Pure of Heart." Billy’s decision to spare Black Adam at the end of the film—even after Adam tried to kill him—proves why the Wizard chose a child.
